Kansas Star Team Members Pack Nearly 400 Food Boxes for Families and Children in Need
3/20/2023
A group of Kansas Star Casino team members recently volunteered at the Kansas Food Bank – a non-profit organization that provides meals to over 215,000 Kansans annually. Every other month team members at the property volunteer to package food boxes for those who face food insecurity.
Kansas Food Bank has the mission of providing hunger relief whenever and wherever it is needed throughout the 85-county service area. They are committed to safeguarding the health, well-being and productivity of food-insecure Kansas families and their children, as well as senior citizens, the homeless and the chronically ill, and all who live in poverty. More than 39 years since they started their operations, the Kansas Food Bank now serves more than 700 hunger-relief partners in 85 counties.
Amanda Tuggerson, Sales Coordinator at Kansas Star, who volunteers frequently said, “Volunteering means the world to me. It’s an opportunity to gather with a group of like-minded coworkers to help make a difference in the lives of those who need it. It gives me a great sense of pride in myself and in Boyd Gaming to know we are helping the most vulnerable in our community.”
During the volunteer event, Amanda and her coworkers assemble boxes of food for children, adults and seniors. Children are then able to pick up a backpack with food from their school offices on Friday to ensure they have something to eat over the weekend. In February, the Kansas Star volunteers beat their personal best by packaging 389 food boxes.
Thank you to our Kansas Star team members for making a difference in the community and beyond!
